Four women learn their boss (a man who’s always been surrounded by rumors about how he treats women) is next in line to be CEO—what will happen when they decide enough is enough?

Sloane, Ardie, Grace, and Rosalita are four women who have worked at Truviv, Inc., for years. The sudden death of Truviv’s CEO means their boss, Ames, will likely take over the entire company. Ames is a complicated man, a man they’ve all known for a long time, a man who’s always been surrounded by…whispers. Whispers that have always been ignored by those in charge. But the world has changed, and the women are watching Ames’s latest promotion differently. This time, they’ve decided enough is enough.

Sloane and her colleagues set in motion a catastrophic shift within every floor and department of the Truviv offices. All four women’s lives—as women, colleagues, mothers, wives, friends, even adversaries—will change dramatically as a result.

THE SUNDAY FEELING’S REVIEW

I really hate to start a review off like this, but let’s just say I wont be recommending this book.

I saw Emily and Ciara buddy read this as part of their Reese’s book club video on YouTube and the premise sounded like my cup of tea. An up and coming CEO of a highly profitable law firm is added to a ‘list’ within the office created to out him as a sexual abuser of staff members. I thought this was be a book I’d really get engrossed in.

Unfortunately after a whole week of processing my thoughts before rating Whisper Network I am gutted to have to give it 2 stars. Yes it did pick up a little in the last 50 pages, but I cannot get out of my head how much I struggled to stay interested throughout the majority of the book.

The first thing that threw me off was when we were introduced to the 3 protagonists Sloane, Ardie and Grace at the very start and they all rolled into one after about 3 pages. They were introduced far too quickly and their family and back story felt almost thrown in our face as we were expected to take far too much in at once. We then jumped, and were introduced to the office cleaner Rosalita, and then taking into account other staff members, husbands, children, it just felt a bit too much.

I read this as part of a buddy read with Jess and we both agreed that only 2 parts of the story got us wide eyed and interested, but unfortunately these scenes lasted for just a handful of pages.

I  honestly felt like the author was just filling pages for most of the book, and then threw everything into the last 50 or so pages. I am sometimes sucked in by this kind of book but having digested my thoughts I can really see how disengaged I was. It dawned on me at the end when the reveal eventually happened and I just blanked out. I had to re read the end 3 times and still cant quite get my head around it.

Whisper Network is described as ‘Fierce, Thrilling and Furious’ on the front cover, but I didn’t get this feeling at all.
I was too bored, lost and confused to feel very much else.

Id love to hear your thoughts if you have read this one.
